Eudora student named Presidential Scholar semifinalist

Eudora High School senior Chloe O’Dell has been named a semifinalist in the U.S. Presidential Scholar competition.

O’Dell is one of 565 students to be named a semifinalist. Out of nearly 3.3 million graduating seniors, 4,300 were identified as candidates in the program, which is run by the U.S. Department of Education.

Up to 141 students are named U.S. Presidential Scholars every year, according to a news release.

The program recognizes the country’s highest achieving high school seniors. Winners are honored at the White House and receive a Presidential Scholar Medallion.

O’Dell was recently named one of the Journal-World’s Academic All-Stars.
