Police are investigating a report of a sexual assault in Lawrence that may have involved an impaired victim.

A sex crime was reported to police about 12:45 a.m. Monday, according to the police department’s daily report log.

Lawrence police Sgt. Trent McKinley said the call was related to a possible sexual assault that happened over the weekend at a location in “central Lawrence.” He said the case may have involved sexual contact while the victim was impaired.

Officers and detectives were still investigating the report on Tuesday, McKinley said. He said he could not immediately release more details about the victim, location or circumstances.
