Police looking for man who allegedly attacked, attempted to sexually assault woman walking downtown
Police are looking for a man who allegedly attacked and tried to sexually assault a woman walking downtown this weekend.
According to Lawrence police:
The incident happened about 2 a.m. Sunday in the 700 block of New Hampshire Street. The victim told police she was walking back to a hotel after leaving a business a few blocks away when a man attacked her, forced her to the ground and began trying to sexually assault her.
The woman started screaming, and a witness ran to help, knocking the man off the victim.
The suspect ran from the scene. He was described as white, about 30 to 40 years old, average height and weight with brown hair.
