Kansas soccer shuts out Bears

? Liana Salazar headed in her eighth goal of the season, and Kaitlyn Stroud made it hold up as Kansas University blanked Baylor, 1-0, in the Big 12 soccer opener for both teams.

Salazar scored less than 20 minutes in, and senior goalkeeper Stroud collected seven saves. Stroud’s goals-against average is a Big 12-best 0.39.

“Baylor is very difficult to play against,” KU coach Mark Francis said. “But I thought we played very well defensively tonight. The mentality was really good in terms of matching their intensity.”

Kansas improved to 10-1-0, while the Bears fell to 6-4-1.

The Jayhawks will meet TCU on Sunday in Fort Worth, Texas.
