Baldwin City man airlifted after car rolls on top of him

A 31-year-old Baldwin City man was airlifted to a Kansas City-area hospital after his car rolled onto him while working on it in his driveway.

Sgt. Gregg Schiffelbein said the vehicle slipped out of gear and rolled back onto the victim and trapped him, shortly before 8 p.m. Monday along the 100 block of Silver Leaf Lane in Baldwin City.

Schiffelbein said a volunteer firefighter lived next door and was able to push the car off. The victim, who was alert and conscious, was flown to Overland Park Regional Medical Center less than a half hour later.

Schiffelbein could not confirm if the injuries were life-threatening, but said he thought “he’s going to be in a lot of pain.”

The victim’s name was not available Monday evening.
