A 40-year-old man died Sunday in Jefferson County after the pickup he was driving left the road and rolled multiple times.

The one-vehicle wreck happened about 1:15 a.m. on Kansas Highway 4 just south of Valley Falls. According to a preliminary report from the Kansas Highway Patrol, John V. Aspinwall, of Valley Falls, was northbound when his truck left the road, hit the gravel shoulder, slid into the ditch and rolled approximately four times.

Aspinwall died at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the patrol’s report.
