Voting league talks gun laws

The League of Women Voters Brown Bag seminar, “Update on Gun Laws” with District Attorney Charles Branson, will be at 11:30 a.m. at the Watkins Museum of History, 1047 Massachusetts St. There will be informal discussion from 11:30 a.m. to noon followed by the program at noon. The event is free and open to the public.

Writers on writing

The Raven Book Store hosts its Big Tent Reading with writers Caleb Puckett, Justin Runge and Sarah Smarsh. Puckett’s recent collection of poetry is “Fate Lines / Desire Lines.” Justin Runge lives in Lawrence, where he serves as poetry editor of “Parcel.” Smarsh has written for Harper’s, Guernica, The Huffington Post, The Pitch and others. The reading is at 7 p.m. at The Raven Book Store, 6 E. Seventh St.
