Name: Sarah McNutt

Age: 25

Hometown: Buffalo, N.Y.

Relationship status: In one

Time in Lawrence: I’m here to visit the Lawrence Arts Center Ceramics Symposium this weekend.

Occupation: Ceramic artist

Dream job: I’m doing what I love. Besides that, I also love to grow things… so running a community garden would be really great.

What were you doing when scouted? Checking out the local shops

Describe your style: My style incorporates a lot of grays, neutrals and naturals [hues], but sometimes with a splash of color or pattern. I also wear lots and lots of layers. I am from Buffalo, so dressing in lots of layers used to be a necessity.

Fashion trends you love: Asymmetrical designs that have been coming out, especially sweaters and outerwear.

Fashion trends you hate: I guess they call it 3-D nail art, but it’s super-over-the-top, blinged-out fake nails. It’s totally not functional at all. I can’t even get nail polish to stay on because of my job.

Fashion influences: I watched a lot of “Project Runway” shows since I’m really interested in the design process across all fields. Sometimes, I’ll look at the runway shots in Elle magazine for inspiration as well.

What would you like to see more or less of in Lawrence? More public art. Less homeless people. We can do better job at taking care of other people with the resources that we have.

Tattoos or piercings: I have 10 total piercings. I like the ones in my ears because they taper in a gradient from small to large.

Whom do people say you look like? I get Anne Hathaway a lot and sometimes Jennifer Garner.

What type of music do you like? Indie for in the studio, and music to dance to like salsa, bachata, and most recently even some country, which is a bit strange for me.

Tell us a secret: I sucked my thumb till age 15.
