Police execute search warrant as part of ongoing drug investigation

Lawrence police executed a search warrant of an apartment, in the building at right of center, located near the intersection of 14th and Massachusetts streets as part of an ongoing drug investigation, Lawrence Police Department spokesman Trent McKinley said.

Lawrence police executed a search warrant of an apartment near the intersection of 14th and Massachusetts streets as part of an ongoing drug investigation, Lawrence Police Department spokesman Trent McKinley said.

Police stood outside the apartment at 19 W. 14th St. with a megaphone, asking all residents to evacuate the building just before 10 a.m. Wednesday, McKinley said.

When no one exited the apartment under investigation, officers entered the dwelling and determined no individuals were present, McKinley said.

McKinley said police had to use extra caution because the suspect is a violent offender. The suspect was stopped earlier Wednesday morning during a traffic stop near 11th and Illinois streets, but no arrests were made.
