25 years ago: Haskell allocation includes inflation adjustment

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Oct. 11, 1989:

Haskell Indian Junior College officials this week said they had secured a $544,000 budget increase for the new fiscal year. Sen. Bob Dole, R-Kan., said $119,000 of the allocation represented a budget adjustment to account for inflation. Walk Riker, spokesman for Dole, said today the bill didn’t stipulate how Haskell was to spend the money, and Haskell President Bob Martin said he hadn’t yet decided how to split the appropriation among projects outlined in an earlier proposal. That list had included funding for a natural resource program, for a summer session, for instructional equipment, and for maintenance supplies.
