Overland Park ? Anna and Yelena Birt took fourth place in No. 1 doubles, and Lawrence High tied for fifth Friday in the Sunflower League girls tennis tournament.

Free State tied for seventh place.

The Lions’ Kendall Pritchard went 2-1 in No. 1 singles and finished ninth, Erin Ventura placed fifth in No. 2 singles at 2-1, and Caroline Baloga and Natalie Cote took seventh in No. 2 doubles at 2-2. The Birt sisters went 1-2 in No. 1 doubles.

“Overall, I was very pleased as a team,” LHS coach Chris Marshall said. “We won the matches we needed to win, especially against the teams we’ll see at regionals.”
