Lawrence man, 21, charged with four counts of aggravated robbery

A 21-year-old Lawrence man was charged with four counts of aggravated robbery and one count of aggravated burglary Monday.

Zachary John Pence is suspected of robbing four people with a deadly weapon on Nov. 8 at an apartment in the 900 block of Arkansas St.

Lawrence Police Department spokesman Sgt. Trent McKinley said Pence was arrested in connection with a call of a home invasion around 6:30 a.m. Saturday after several individuals entered an apartment armed with handguns, battered residents and took their belongings.

Court documents allege that Pence took cash, two cellphones, an Xbox 360 and the contents of a safe during the incident.

McKinley said police are working to identify the other individuals who allegedly entered the apartment with Pence. As of 5 p.m. Monday, no one else had been taken into custody.
