School files police report after student shows up with razor blade

Administrators at West Middle School filed a police report after a sixth-grader brought a razor blade to school on Monday, according to a news release from the Lawrence school district.

The news release does not say whether an incident with the blade occurred, only that staff learned the student had brought it to school. When asked to clarify, Lawrence school district spokesperson Julie Boyle said police are investigating.

The school initiated disciplinary action and informed the student’s parents.

Lawrence school board policy allows for suspension or expulsion if a student brings a weapon or other dangerous objects to school.
