25 years ago: Landon ‘Pigeons’ movie finishes location filming

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Nov. 3, 1989:

The cast and crew of “Where Pigeons Go To Die” flew home this week after completing location filming for the Michael Landon Productions movie. Landon, who directed and appeared in the movie, was to begin working with film editors on the final product, which was expected to be ready in about eight weeks to be shown on the NBC television network. Jerry Jones, director of the Kansas Film Commission, said the production crew had brought about $1 million into the Kansas economy, especially to the three filming locations of Baldwin, Overland Park, and Lawrence. “They said they would be back,” Jones said. “So, if a project comes up, we’ll be in the running.” Jones added that their visit had broken the stereotypes of flat, treeless land held by some of the production crew members, who had commented a number of times about the beauty of the area.
