Lawrence woman found not guilty in connection with February hit-and-run

A jury found a 26-year-old Lawrence woman not guilty Friday of aggravated battery in connection with a Feb. 17 incident in which her boyfriend was struck by an SUV she drove.

During a March preliminary hearing, a Lawrence police officer testified that Georgianna Aguilar also bore noticeable injuries when she was arrested hours after an incident involving Ryan Ingram, with whom she shared a home.

Aguilar bonded out of jail before the trial. According to previous testimony, Aguilar told an officer that during an argument between her and Ingram as he drove her in his SUV, Ingram backhanded her and began pummeling her with both hands. Aguilar said she opened the passenger-side door and beckoned him to come hit her again. As Ingram made his way around the front of the SUV, Aguilar said, she took the wheel and drove off. Ingram was treated for his injuries at a Kansas City-area trauma center following the altercation.
