Turning restrictions at 23rd and Louisiana to be lifted by Saturday morning

The intersection at 23rd and Louisiana streets is scheduled to be almost back to normal by Saturday.

Construction activity that is limiting motorists’ ability to turn north on Louisiana Street will be completed by Saturday morning, according to a release from City Hall.

Currently, motorists on 23rd Street cannot turn north onto Louisiana Street. Southbound motorists on Louisiana Street also can’t progress past the 2200 block of Louisiana Street. The closure is the result of the city installing a waterline across Louisiana Street, and AT&T crews repairing a fiber optic cable that was struck during the waterline project.

Even after Saturday, however, motorists may still want to avoid the intersection. Although the turning restrictions will be lifted, work to replace the waterline between Alabama and Louisiana streets is expected to last through July. During that time period westbound traffic on 23rd Street will be reduced to one lane.
