Man leads police on car chase, escapes on foot

May 5, 2014

Lawrence police are seeking a man who escaped on foot after allegedly leading an officer on a short pursuit and crashing a stolen vehicle into a ditch early Monday morning.

According to police, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle near the intersection of Clinton Parkway and Inverness Drive around 2:30 a.m. The suspect did not stop, and he led police on a short pursuit until his vehicle left the roadway and went into a ditch near Legends Place apartments, 4010 W. 24th Place, said Lawrence Police Sgt. Trent McKinley.

“The driver then fled on foot and was not located by officers,” McKinley said.

Officers determined the suspect’s vehicle had been stolen, and the temporary tag on the vehicle had been altered, according to police.

Love how it's mentioned this was a stolen vehicle yet further along the vehicle becomes " his vehicle".

Plain common sense would mean the vehicle he was in. at no point does it say he owned it. Think!!! Might check about lubricating your skates or something?

It should have been "the" vehicle. Interesting story. Why did he steal the car, why this particular car? Where was he going? Did the officer get a good enough look at the driver to be able to identify him? Is there a "chop shop" in Lawrence?

Julius, I don't know about Steffie, but I don't have any skates and I totally agree with her.
