18-year-old Lawrence man arrested on suspicion of sexual battery on KU campus

An 18-year-old Lawrence man was arrested early Saturday morning on suspicion of aggravated sexual battery on the Kansas University campus.

Capt. James Anguiano said the Kansas University Public Safety Office responded to a call in Ellsworth Hall at 1:43 a.m. The suspect is said to have assaulted three people in the course of an hour.

The first person reported being restrained and sexually battered by the suspect around 12:45 a.m. The second person said she was battered in the hallway, after which the suspect exposed himself. Having heard of the other two assaults, the third person confronted the suspect in the hallway, where she was taunted and pushed by him.

The suspect later tried to contact the three and punched their doors, causing damage, police said. None of the three were injured; however, the suspect injured his hand and was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

After being released, the suspect was arrested on suspicion of aggravated sexual battery, two counts of battery, lewd and lascivious behavior, criminal restraint, criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct.
