40 years ago: ‘Dashing around in the nude’: Streaker craze hits KU

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for March 7, 1974:

Streakers, responding to warmer weather, were appearing like early crocuses at college campuses across the nation, including Kansas University. After a week that included several sightings of one or more naked runners on campus, there were rumors of a possible streaker planning a dash at Allen Fieldhouse at tonight’s KU-K State basketball game. Earlier in the week, several unidentified persons “dashing around in the nude” had been reported near the fieldhouse, on Jayhawk Boulevard, and at the Chi Omega Fountain, where 25 men had gathered to strip before heading east for a “Beat K-State” rally in front of Watson Library. No streakers had yet been arrested; Capt. Bob Ellison of KU Security said the matter would “probably be handled administratively.”
