Former Kansas University basketball shooting guard Andrew White III will make an official recruiting visit to the University of Nebraska today and Friday, White reported Wednesday.

“I have not chosen any favorites or plan to decide before I visit a couple more schools,” White, a 6-foot-6 Richmond, Virginia, native said in an email to the Journal-World. “Just trying to keep control of any rumors at this point.”

White, who has two years of eligibility remaining, knows NU assistant Kenya Hunter, who recruited him in high school for Georgetown.

White has said he’d heard from coaches from Nebraska, Wake Forest, Maryland, Richmond, Notre Dame, Miami and Florida State. He averaged 2.3 points a game his sophomore season while playing in 19 games.

Camp attendees: KU sophomore Wayne Selden Jr. and freshman Kelly Oubre Jr. will attend the Kevin Durant Skills Academy this weekend in Washington, D.C. The academy, which includes instruction from NBA coaches, is attended by 15 college and 30 high school wing players.

Tonight’s draft: KU has had 16 players drafted during Bill Self’s 11 seasons as coach. Thomas Robinson, who was taken No. 5 in 2012, is KU’s highest pick in the Self era. Owens’ son promoted: Teddy Owens, the son of former KU coach Ted Owens, has been named director of basketball operations at Nebraska. Owens was NU administrative coordinator last season. Prior to heading to NU, Owens spent two seasons working as a graduate assistant at Oklahoma under Lon Kruger. Owens spent three seasons as head coach at Lincoln Christian in Tulsa, Oklahoma, compiling a 48-27 record leading the school to a pair of Class 2A state tournament appearances in 2009 and 2010. He served as a student manager at Oklahoma State during the 2003-04 season, when the Cowboys went 31-4, won the Big 12 title and reached the Final Four.

“Teddy will be terrific as our director of operations. It is a challenging job, but one he will handle well,” Nebraska coach Tim Miles said. “In this role, we rely on him to be a liaison for our program both on campus and in the community, and Teddy possesses both the personality and organization skills to make sure our program is running smoothly.”
