Lawrence man pleads guilty to filing false tax return

A Lawrence man pleaded guilty Tuesday to filing a false tax return, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom’s office.

Bradley Stoneking, 30, claimed federal tax withholdings for 2010 of about $330,000 on gambling winnings, when his actual withholding on his winnings was $300. Stoneking faces a maximum penalty of three years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000, Grissom’s office said.

His sentencing is set for Sept. 8.
