Stouffer Place to close after next school year

The coming school year will be the last one for Stouffer Place Apartments, Kansas University announced Tuesday.

The university’s master plan calls for new science buildings and landscaping in the Irving Hill area where the apartments now stand. In addition, a new apartment complex for single upperclass and graduate students will be built at 19th and Iowa streets on part of the Stouffer Place site. It is expected to be completed in the late spring of 2017.

The university said student housing is still accepting applications from students who want to live at Stouffer Place in the 2014-2015 academic year.
