Lawrence man sentenced to 32 months for role in December 2013 robbery

A 22-year-old Lawrence man was sentenced Tuesday to 32 months in prison for his role in a December 2013 robbery.

Christopher Allen Freeman pled no contest in April to felony robbery. Upon his release, he will serve 24 months of probation. The court also found that he committed the crime with a deadly weapon and will therefore be forced to register as a violent offender for 15 years following his release.

Freeman was one of three men arrested after an hours-long standoff in an apartment on the 1700 block of West 24th Street. Assistant District Attorney Amy McGowan said in April that a victim was taken to the apartment and forced to give up his clothing, shoes, glasses and cellphone at gunpoint.

Jerome Leon Miller, 21, of Topeka, pled no contest to felony robbery and will be sentenced June 10. Marcus Jerome Lee Bell, 28, of Lawrence, next has a court appearance July 3.
