Douglas County gets severe thunderstorm warning

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Douglas County until 1 a.m. Monday.

The NWS said thunderstorms could become severe and produce large hail and strong, damaging winds. The main threat of weather will be northwest of the Kansas Turnpike. Heavy rainfall is also possible.

Update: The NWS has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Douglas and Franklin counties until 11:15 p.m. Winds reaching 70 miles per hour and nickel-sized hail are possible.
