Style Scout: Rachael Hampton

Clothing details: Shoes, gift, Third Planet; dress, gift; main necklace made by my friend, Abbie.

Name: Rachael Hampton

Age: 20

Hometown: Lawrence

Relationship: Currently in one

Occupation: I’m a full-time student, and I work for Crowd Systems (sporting events company). My major is applied behavioral science with an emphasis in youth development and juvenile justice.

Dream job: My dream job is to actually work at a JDC to help juveniles.

What were you doing when scouted? Drinking coffee and reading a book

Describe your style: I’d like to think it’s unique. I don’t really stick to a certain style. I’d wear this or I’d wear something that’s punk rock and all black with boots. Or I’ll wear something preppy like a button-up shirt that is tucked into a skirt. I’ll wear anything that I think looks good and is comfortable.

Fashion trends you love: I’m really into moccasins. I love moccasins. I have a whole bunch of moccasin flats to ankle boots. I actually have a pair of knee-high moccasin boots.

Fashion trends you hate: I don’t like high-waisted shorts very much.

Fashion influences: Mainly the music that I listen too. My fashion changes with my mood and what music I’m currently listening to. Right now, I’ve been listening to a lot of Stevie Nicks!

What would you like to see more or less of in Lawrence? It would be very cool if there was a roped-off part of downtown where they play live music every week. Less construction. Lawrence is kind of losing its uniqueness or history. It’s turning more into Johnson County.

Tattoos or piercings: One crappy tattoo and ear piercings

Whom do people say you look like? Cindy Crawford! My mom always told me I look like her.

What type of music do you like? I listen to a lot of rock, Smashing Pumpkins, David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix and all sorts of music to rap and hip-hop.

Tell us a secret: I like to read vampire romance novels.
