In Lawrence Tuesday for an unofficial visit to Kansas University, Class of 2015 wide receiver Kevin Thomas, from DeSoto, Texas, couldn’t resist ending his college recruitment — or tweeting out his decision.

“Proud to say that I have officially committed to Kansas University #RockChalkJhawks,” Thomas wrote on Twitter, adding a picture of him flexing his arms while donning a Jayhawks jersey and helmet.

A 6-foot-2, 180-pound wideout, Thomas chose KU, despite offers from the likes of Wisconsin, Nebraska and Clemson, among others.

A three-star recruit according to Rivals.com, the high school senior told JayhawkSlant.com’s Jon Kirby he spoke with Kansas coach Charlie Weis via Facetime Tuesday, because Weis was out at a charity event.

Before long, Weis had a tweet of his own: “It’s a great day to be a Jayhawk! #itstime.”

Thomas told Kirby he liked KU’s offense, and that helped his decision.

“It was great when I saw they have a new scheme that is similar to the spread offense that we run at DeSoto,” Thomas said. “That was one thing that really sold me.

Kansas now has 11 commitments in the Class of 2015 — four high school players and seven from the junior college ranks.
