Lawrence police investigating whether alcohol contributed to motorcycle accident

Lawrence police are investigating whether alcohol was a factor in a motorcycle accident that left a passenger with non-life-threatening injuries Thursday night.

Sgt. Ted Bordman, speaking at the scene, said a 28-year-old Linwood woman fell off a motorcycle along the 1100 block of North 3rd Street. The accident was reported shortly after 8:45 p.m. She was transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Bordman said the motorcycle was driven by a 37-year-old Overland Park man.

As the ambulance departed, a man was seen participating in a field sobriety test. He was subsequently placed under arrest.

The reason the woman fell off the motorcycle was not yet known, Bordman said.
