The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for Douglas County and surrounding areas from 9 a.m. today until 6 a.m. Saturday.

Freezing drizzle or light snow will move into east central Kansas between 9 a.m. and noon, lingering through the afternoon. Periods of freezing rain and sleet, as well as an inch or less of snow, is expected.

The weather service says roads could become slick.
