Eudora interviews McLouth school chief

McLouth school district Superintendent Steve Splichal is the third and final candidate being interviewed for the superintendent’s job in Eudora.

Splichal has led the McLouth district, with about 490 students, since 2011. Before that he worked 11 years as an assistant superintendent and middle school principal in the Hiawatha school district. He also has taught middle school social studies and coached in the Atchison and Beloit districts.

Splichal holds a bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University and a master’s degree in education administration from Benedictine College.

The two other finalists for the job include Galena Superintendent Brian Smith and Oxford Superintendent Mark Whitener.

All three candidates come from districts about one-third the size of Eudora, which had total enrollment last year of 1,523 students.

A decision on who will replace retiring Superintendent Don Grosdidier is expected in February.
