Wind chill advisory in effect for midnight in Douglas County

The National Weather Service issued a wind chill advisory for Douglas and surrounding counties, going into effect at midnight. The advisory will last until 11 a.m. Thursday.

Another cold blast is moving into eastern Kansas, meaning temperatures will drop into the single digits overnight. Wind chill values will be 15 to 20 degrees below zero.

Heading into Thursday afternoon, the weather service forecasts a high near 15 degrees. Thursday evening, temperatures will reach a low of 5 with wind chill values between zero and 10 below.

NWS warns prolonged exposure could lead to hypothermia and exposed skin is vulnerable to frostbite.
