Wind advisory precedes sunny, warm Sunday

Douglas County faces a windy Saturday with gusts of up to 40 mph, giving way to an unusually warm January Sunday.

Scott Whitmore of the National Weather Service in Topeka said temperatures should reach the low 50s by midday with a chance of sprinkles and a light shower possible.

The weather service issued a wind advisory for the area until 6 p.m. today. Tonight, temperatures are expected to be in the low-20s before warming up to the mid-60s on Sunday. Sunday will still be a little breezy, Whitmore said.
