Lawrence man charged with robbing Wichita bank

A Lawrence man was charged Friday with robbing a bank in Wichita, according to U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom’s office.

Matthew Greenlee, 25, allegedly robbed Bank of America at 7310 W. 21st St. in Wichita on Thursday afternoon. According to Grissom’s office, Greenlee gave the bank teller a note saying to put money into his bag. After the teller complied, he allegedly took the money and left.

According to Grissom’s office, Greenlee returned to the bank with his father two hours after the robbery. He surrendered to investigators who were processing the scene.

The Wichita Police and the FBI investigated the robbery. If convicted, Greenlee could face a maximum penalty of 20 years and a fine of up to $250,000.
