Trauma-focused psychotherapy clinic opens Lawrence office

A mental health clinic specializing in trauma-focused psychotherapy recently opened an office in Lawrence.

The Center for Healing and Recovery, which is based in the Kansas City area, has opened a branch office at 2001 Haskell Ave. Susan Miller, a counselor and trauma specialist, will staff the facility.

Until recently, Miller provided counseling services through Lawrence-based GaDuGi Safe Center, a service for survivors of sexual violence. Before that, she counseled through Independence Inc., which is where the new office will be located.

Among the services Miller will provide is assisting victims of motor vehicle accidents with their psychological recovery. Trauma resolution counseling coaches a person through a series of experiences that gradually returns the person’s nervous system to a state of composure.

Miller also will provide trauma recovery services for combat veterans, crime victims and adult survivors of child abuse. Anyone interested in receiving services at the new Lawrence office of the Center for Healing and Recovery may call 816-407-1887 or visit www.TCFHAR.com for more information.
