Man stabbed in domestic altercation and later arrested

January 2, 2014

A man was treated at the hospital for a stab wound, then taken to jail following a domestic altercation early Thursday morning.

Lawrence police responded to Lawrence Memorial Hospital to investigate after the stabbing was reported just before 3:30 a.m. in the 2400 block of Ousdahl Road, said Kim Murphree, a Lawrence Police Department spokeswoman.

Police identified a female suspect, who was taken to juvenile detention, Murphree said.

After being treated at the hospital, the man who was stabbed was arrested on a battery charge stemming from the same incident, Murphree said. His injuries were not life threatening.

That's getting to be a high-crime rate neighborhood. What is it about that area?

Violent crime rate in Lawrence is moving up...... product of growth. Lawrence does not have a population of 100,000 yet. Think what it will be like at a population of 150,000 then 200,000 then the once projected ultimate goal of 250,000.

Think how many more millions of tax dollars this will require each annual budget request from this day forward. Crime never pays for itself and Law Enforcement is never denied a budget increase no matter what.

Grab your wallet quick as someday there will be no need for one.
