New Visitor Center at state Capitol to open Jan. 2

The new Visitor Center at the Kansas Capitol in Topeka will open at 10 a.m. Jan. 2, following a ribbon-cutting ceremony and guest speeches, the Kansas Historical Society has announced.

Gov. Sam Brownback and Topeka Mayor Larry Wolgast will speak at the ceremony. The construction of the Visitor Center came as part of a $332 million renovation of the Statehouse that was 12 years in the making.
