St. Louis man booked in Douglas County Jail; suspected of rape, kidnapping

A 46-year-old St. Louis man was booked into Douglas County Jail late Friday afternoon on suspicion of multiple crimes including rape and kidnapping, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office booking recap.

Lawrence police arrested the man in the 1700 block of West 24th Street at around 5:50 p.m. Friday after responding to a trespassing call. The man was later booked on suspicion of crimes that include kidnapping, rape, criminal trespassing and criminal restraint.

On Saturday, a Lawrence Police Department shift supervisor said further details about the man’s arrest were not available.

The Journal-World does not identify suspects in sex crimes unless they are convicted.
