Kansas University freshman point guard Devonté Graham, who suffered a severely sprained right big toe against Georgetown on Dec. 10, no longer has to wear a boot on his foot.

“He saw the doctor (Tuesday). He came out of the boot. That can be headline news: ‘He’s out of the boot,”’ KU coach Bill Self cracked after his team beat Kent State, 78-62, Tuesday night at Allen Fieldhouse.

“We knew he would be out in three weeks anyway. There’s absolutely no report as far as when he can get back on the practice floor or anything like that. It is a positive direction the doctor let him out of the boot. Now he can walk around to see how he progresses doing that. He can do limited exercise from a cardio standpoint. That’s all positive. Absolutely no report on whether or not his status has changed because it hasn’t. We won’t know that for probably another week or so,” Self added.
