40 years ago: KU appoints new Dean of Women

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Dec. 17, 1974:

Kala Stroup was appointed this week as dean of women at Kansas University. Stroup, who had been serving as associate dean of women since the beginning of the 1974 school year, was to replace Emily Taylor, dean since the early 1950s, who was to retire at the end of the fall semester to take a position with the American Council on Education in Washington, D.C. “I accept the position with great humility,” Stroup said today. “Emily Taylor and Dr. Martha Peterson before her have done such a superb job.”
