KU volleyball players on all-region teams

Kansas University senior Chelsea Albers and freshman Ainise Havili were named to the American Volleyball Coaches Assocation All-Midwest Region First Team on Tuesday.

“It’s a culmination of Chelsea having a great senior year, but it’s also very indicative of the career she’s had at Kansas,” coach Ray Bechard said. “It’s also great to see that people are recognizing that Ainise had an outstanding freshman year.”

Albers, from Papillion, Nebraska, this past season led KU in kills (343) and was second in digs (316) and blocks (97).

Havili, from Fort Worth, Texas, had 14 double-doubles and 1,332 assists, most by any Big 12 setter this season.
