Two men arrested Saturday in connection with 15 auto burglaries

Two Lawrence men were arrested Saturday in connection with 15 recent auto burglaries, according to Lawrence police.

Darrell Allen Lipp, 23, and William Harold Gibson, 22, both of Lawrence, were arrested at the intersection of North Third Street and North Street about 5 p.m. Saturday, said Sgt. Craig Shanks.

Six of the 15 auto burglaries took place Friday night, Shanks said. Items taken from the vehicles included loose change and sunglasses, Shanks said, adding it was unclear whether the cars were locked.

Lipp’s bond was set at $11,000, and Gibson’s bond was set at $12,000, according to the Douglas County Jail booking log. Both men were still in custody Sunday night.
