Report: Kansas gasoline prices continue downward trend

As average gasoline prices continue a downward trend across the country, Kansas is no exception, according to a report released Monday by GasBuddy.com.

The Kansas average price per gallon stands at $3.25, down 14.4 cents from a month ago and 24.7 cents from a year ago. State averages were calculated by GasBuddy’s daily survey of 1,329 gas outlets across Kansas.

The national average price per gallon now stands at $3.45, down 13.2 cents since last month and 8.5 cents since last year.

“The national average has now dropped to its lowest level since February, and with the end of the summer driving season nearing, we’ll likely see gas prices continuing the downward trend,” said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan.

“While a short term increase in gasoline prices is never out of the question, as we grow nearer to September, the likelihood of a spike decreases. It won’t be long before we’ll start to see a few cities seeing averages under $3/gal,” DeHann said.
