Trial date set for Arizona man charged with multiple sex crimes

An 18-year-old Yuma, Ariz., man will stand trial in July on multiple sex offense charges involving three alleged victims.

The man will go to trial July 15 on charges including rape and aggravated criminal sodomy. He is due back in court on June 23 for a status conference. He is also charged with one count of kidnapping and three counts of battery.

On Friday, a Douglas County judge ruled that prosecutors could try the man as an adult. Each count involved offenses alleged to have occurred in Douglas County before the man turned 18 in August 2013. He was arrested on Nov. 4 in his hometown of Yuma, Ariz., and was brought to Douglas County to be charged later that month.

One of the three alleged victims was younger than 14 at the time of the alleged sexual offenses.
