Motorcyclist life-flighted after hitting canoe on I-70 near Lawrence

A Lawrence man was taken by helicopter to an area hospital after a motorcycle accident on Interstate 70 near Lawrence on Saturday night.

Around 9:15 p.m., Brian Crader, 40, was westbound on I-70 near milepost 202 when the 2001 Honda motorcycle he was driving struck a canoe that was in the roadway, according to the Kansas Turnpike Authority. There were reportedly several canoes in the road that had likely fallen off another vehicle.

Crader was injured in the crash and flown to Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas. He was treated in the emergency department and released without being admitted to the hospital.
