Obama selects former state transportation secretary Miller for federal position

President Barack Obama has announced his nomination of Deb Miller, former secretary of the Kansas Department of Transportation, to the federal Surface Transportation Board.

Miller served as Kansas Transportation Secretary from 2003 to 2011 under Democratic and Republican administrations.

Since leaving the state agency, Miller has been a senior associate for Cambridge Systematics Inc.

The Surface Transportation Board is an economic regulatory agency that deals with railroad and other transportation issues.
