Emergency preparedness class to be offered

September is designated as National Preparedness Month. In conjunction, the Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department and the Douglas County Medical Reserve Corps are holding a class to teach people how to prepare for a disaster.

The citizen preparedness class will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Community Health Building, 200 Maine St. It is free, and lunch will be provided.

Participants will learn about the types of emergencies that may affect them, where to seek shelter and how to develop an emergency plan and assemble a disaster supply kit.
