Omaha, Neb. ? Free State High’s girls cross country team took first place Friday in the Millard South Invitational.

Claire Sanner finished fourth to lead the Firebirds, followed by Emily Venters (fifth), Bailey Sullivan (seventh), Kiran Cordes (15th), Molly McCord (16th), Rosemary Newsome (34th) and Sarah Whipple (36th).

Free State took ninth in the boys race. Ryan Liston finished 19th to lead the Firebirds, followed by Tanner Hockenbury (30th), Colton Stallard (45th), Thomas Becker (46th), Curtis Zicker (52nd), Ethan Donley (54th) and Elijah Harvey (71st).
