A Lawrence High School staff member has been suspended with pay pending an investigation by the Lawrence Police Department.

The school filed a police report Monday through a school resource officer. School District spokeswoman Julie Boyle said in an email in response to questions that a student, who had failed to comply with a staff member’s request on Monday, alleged that physical contact occurred as the staff member attempted to retrieve an item from the student.

The school notified the student’s parents, Boyle said. The district will not identify the staff member, calling it a “confidential personnel matter.”
