The granddaughters of Elizabeth “Grandma” Layton will be reading from her biography “Signs Along the Way” from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Lawrence Arts Center.

“Grandma” Layton was the Kansas native famous for remarkably pulling herself out of a decades-long depression with blind-contour drawing. This biography/memoir, co-written and compiled by her three granddaughters, explains the causes of her debilitating downward spiral and the influences that gave her the strength to cure her depression for good. Most of the book is written by Layton herself.

There will be some original pieces by Layton on display, and refreshments will be provided.
