Lawrence police will conduct nighttime seat belt enforcement on Monday as part of a campaign funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Officers can stop drivers solely for seat-belt violations and cite them and any other passengers not wearing seat belts. State law mandates a minimum fine of $60 for drivers and passengers between 14 and 17 cited for not wearing a seat belt. For those 18 and older, the ticket is $10.
