Lawrence man arrested on suspicion of indecent liberties with a minor, sodomy

A 42-year-old Lawrence man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of multiple counts of indecent liberties with a child and criminal sodomy.

The man was arrested Thursday morning following an investigation completed by a Lawrence Police Department juvenile investigator.

He faces one count of aggravated indecent liberties with a child, one count of indecent liberties with a child and one count of criminal sodomy, a felony charge.

The charges stem from incidents that occurred in 2012 and 2013, said Sgt. Trent McKinley, a Lawrence Police Department spokesman. Police say that the man and the victim know one another and that the victim is younger than 18. The man remained in Douglas County Jail on a $75,000 bond and a judge ordered no contact with the victim, witnesses or anyone under 18 as part of the bond.

The Journal-World generally does not name suspects facing sex crime charges unless a plea of guilty is made or a conviction is entered.
